PRESS RELEASE – Implementation of the Land Use and Development Plan

Chevery, June 6, 2018 – The MRC du Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent is pleased to announce the implementation of the Land Use and Development Plan (SAD). The SAD was adopted by the Council of the MRC on December 19, 2017 followed by the approval from the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Occupation du territoire (MAMOT) on March 9, 2018. This document reflects the will of the MRC towards the realization of its strategic vision 2025.

“We are very proud of this achievement. It is the result of significant efforts. This process of reflection and consultation, initiated in 2011, has mobilized a large number of stakeholders. The document reflects the extent and the quality of the work accomplished. It is an important tool that will guide the MRC’s actions in the field of planning and development.” Ms. Andrea Roberts, Land Planner.

Next Steps

Since its implementation, the municipalities must adopt the by-laws and guidelines to this effect. In upcoming months, the review process and adoption of municipal regulations for the planning program and its by-laws will begin and will be carried over a period of approximately 2 years.

Approach to Revision of SAD

The review of the Land Use and Development Plan is governed by the Act respecting land use planning and development (R.S.Q., Chapter A-19.1). The MRC du Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent must review their Land Use and Development Plan periodically.

“I would like to thank the citizens and our partners who participated to the public consultations as well as the ministries for the sharing of information and all their suggestions throughout the development process. A special mention to the Council of the MRC for their contribution.” Ms. Andrea Roberts, Land Planner.
