The MRC du Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent is one of the areas targeted by the new Canada Economic Development (CED) measure for the regions of Quebec.

The Ministère de la Culture et des Communications announces that Component 3 (Implementation of digital creativity projects in Quebec’s public spaces and cultural venues) of the Call for projects to promote Quebec culture will be open from August 19 to October 3, 2024.

Objectives of Component 3
• Support the development of digital creativity projects by Québec creators and businesses
• Increase the reach and accessibility of Quebec digital creativity projects to a variety of audiences in public spaces and cultural venues throughout Quebec’s administrative regions
• Contribute to the growth and development of Quebec’s digital creativity sector
• Contribute to the appropriation and frequentation of public spaces and cultural venues by the population of Quebec

Component 3 supports :
• An innovative digital creativity project, i.e. a project involving the production of a new digital creation designed specifically for the public space or cultural venue managed by the applicant;
• An existing digital creativity project, i.e. a project to host, in one or more new venues, a Quebec digital creation that has already been presented in a similar form, in Quebec or elsewhere.

Eligible applicants: non-profit organizations, cooperatives, municipalities, First Nations public authorities.
Applicants must also be responsible for managing the occupation of a public space (e.g. neighborhood, park, etc.) or a cultural site (e.g. library, museum, heritage site), and use Quebec digital creators.

Message from the CISSS de la Côte-Nord

Users of the Lower North Shore who have been waiting for an appointment with a medical specialist for over a year will soon receive a call from Axelle, the automated system of the Centre de répartition des demandes de services (CRDS). 

The purpose of these calls is to update and validate the waiting list for an appointment with a medical specialist in the region or elsewhere. 

The users concerned will receive a call or a text with the following message: “Hi, I am Axelle, the automated system of the Centre de répartition des demandes de services de la Côte-Nord. Please answer the following questions so we can update the waiting list.” 

Once the call has started, people simply have to validate certain information, such as their last name and date of birth, and to answer questions on the evolution of their condition.

Chevery, March 12th 2024 – The MRC du Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent wishes to inform the population of the meeting held last Sunday (March 10th) between MRC elected officials and ministers Pierre Fitzgibbon (Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy and Minister responsible for Regional Economic Development) Ian Lafrenière (Minister responsible for Relations with First Nations and Inuit) and Kateri Champagne Jourdain (Minister of Employment and Minister responsible for the North Shore region).

Our objective with this meeting was to take advantage of the physical presence of these ministers on our territory to raise their awareness of the issues faced by our population on a daily basis. We had the opportunity to present our priorities in terms of air and maritime transport, access to healthcare, follow-up of public contracts and proper management of public funds. Above all, we demonstrated to the ministers present the need to take into account the particularities of our region in order to offer citizens services adapted to their needs.

Ministers Fitzgibbon, Lafrenière and Champagne Jourdain encountered problems themselves travelling to the Lower North Shore, allowing them to experience some of the challenges we face on a daily basis.

The meeting was an opportunity to reiterate our requests regarding the hydroelectric dam project on the Petit-Mécatina River, namely that the completion of Route 138 should be a priority.

The provincial ministers were on the road to meet with the Innu communities of Pakua-Shipi and Unamen-Shipu.

The MRC du Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent will continue its efforts with the provincial and federal governments and regional partners to make our demands heard. We are aware of the deterioration in the services offered to our population, and we are taking action to improve the situation.

Relais Nordik inc. operator of the coastal supply ship service for Anticosti Island and the Lower North Shore, would like to inform the population of Anticosti Island and the Lower North Shore that the M/V Bella Desgagnés will begin its first voyage of the season on Monday, April 1st, 2024. General merchandises will be accepted starting on March 26th, 2024 and perishable goods as of Monday April 1st, 2024 at the Rimouski and Sept-Îles terminals.

Note that all the agencies will also open on Monday April 1st, 2024.
