Municipalities
The MRC du Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent is located in the Côte-Nord region (09). Located at the eastern end of the province of Quebec, the MRC’s territory stretches between the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Labrador border. The MRC du Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent was constituted in 2010 and has a population of 3619.
Covering a total area of 48,147 square kilometers (land area 40,819 km2), it stretches for almost 375 kilometers along the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and is made up of five municipalities and one unorganized territory (TNO): Blanc-Sablon, Bonne-Espérance, Côte-Nord-du-Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent, Gros-Mécatina, Saint-Augustin and TNO Petit Mécatina.
Côte-Nord-du-Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent
The municipality of Côte-Nord-du-Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent comprises five villages: Kegaska, La Romaine, Chevery, Harrington Harbour and Tête-à-la-Baleine. The population of this municipality is approximately 800.
An Innu community, Unamen Shipu, is located near the village of La Romaine, with a population of over 1,350. The Innu have their own administration, called the Band Council.
The municipality of Côte-Nord du Golfe St-Laurent is located at the western end of the MRC. This municipality is different from the others in that its five villages are not connected by a road network, with the exception of Kegaska. The villages are accessible by Bella Desgagnés (boat), Air Liaison (plane) and snowmobile in winter when the Route Blanche is open.
Kegaska is the MRC’s most westerly village, and was recently connected by Route 138 (fall 2013) to the rest of the province of Quebec. The languages spoken within the Municipalité Côte-Nord du Golfe St-Laurent are English, French and Innu.

Gros-Mécatina
The municipality of Gros Mecatina is made up of two villages, Mutton Bay and La Tabatière, with a population of 428. The two villages are connected by Route 138, but are not connected to any other municipality in the MRC.
The villages are accessible by Bella Desgagnés (boat), Pal Airlines (plane) and by snowmobile in winter when the Route Blanche is open. The main language spoken in this municipality is English.

Saint-Augustin
The municipality of Saint-Augustin includes the village of Saint-Augustin with a population of 445. An Innu community, Pakua Shipu, is located on the west bank of the Saint-Augustin River, with a population of 237. The villages are located on either side of the Saint-Augustin River, bordered by sandy beaches.
The municipality of Saint-Augustin is not connected to any other municipality by road, but is accessible by the Bella Desgagnés (boat), Air Liaison and Pal Airlines (plane) and by snowmobile in winter when the Route Blanche is open. The languages spoken in this municipality are English and Innu.

Bonne-Espérance
The municipality of Bonne-Espérance comprises three villages, Vieux Fort, Rivière-Saint-Paul and Middle Bay, with a population of 681. The three villages are connected by Route 138 to the municipality of Blanc-Sablon.
All villages are accessible by the Bella Desgagnés (boat), Air Liaison and Pal Airlines (plane), just a short distance along Route 138 from Blanc-Sablon. The Route Blanche also connects this municipality to the rest of the MRC during the winter months. The main language spoken in this municipality is English.

Blanc-Sablon
The municipality of Blanc-Sablon comprises three villages Brador, Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon and Blanc-Sablon, with a population of 1,112. The three villages are linked by Route 138, and are also connected to the neighboring municipality of Bonne-Espérance and Labrador to the north. All villages are accessible by Bella Desgagnés (boat), Air Liaison and Pal Airlines (plane), and by snowmobile in winter when the Route Blanche is open. This municipality is also connected to Newfoundland by ferry. The languages spoken in this municipality are English and French.

La municipalité de la Côte-Nord-du-Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent est composée de cinq villages : Kegaska, La Romaine, Chevery, Harrington Harbour et Tête-à-la-Baleine. La population du cette municipalité est d’environ 800 habitants.
Une communauté Innu, Unamen Shipu, est située à proximité du village de La Romaine avec une population de plus de 1350 habitants. Les Innus ont leur propre administration, appelée Conseil de Bande.
La municipalité Côte-Nord du Golfe St-Laurent est située à l’extrémité ouest de la MRC. Cette municipalité est différente des autres car les cinq villages la composant ne sont pas connectés par un réseau routier, sauf Kegaska. Les villages sont accessibles par le Bella Desgagnés (bateau), Air Liaison (avion) et par motoneige en hiver quand la Route Blanche est ouverte.
Kegaska est le village situé le plus à l’ouest de la MRC et a été récemment connecté par la route 138 (automne 2013) qui s’étend au reste de la province de Québec. Les langues parlées au sein de la Municipalité Côte-Nord du Golfe St-Laurent sont l’anglais, le français et l’Innu.
